Your blade is dull if…
…the tips turn brown or white
The blade is ripping the grass. The torn ends look like frayed cloth, then dry out.
…it leaves tufts behind
The dull parts of the blade push grass over. It stands back up taller than the rest.
…the clippings clump
Clumps drop behind you. Some of it gets pulled up by the roots.
…the mower bogs down
It sounds like it's working too hard, or you go over the same strip twice.
…the edge looks round
Switch off, pull the plug wire or the battery, and look. A round edge, nicks or dents mean it's time.
20° to 40°, locked in place.
This is the part that keeps you from rounding off the edge.
- MATCH IT
- Hold the guide against your blade and click it to the angle that's already there.
- LOCK IT
- It locks at that angle, so it can't drift while you work.
- RUN IT
- Rest the guide flat on the blade and run it along the edge. Every pass hits at the same angle.
Owner's tip: color the edge with a marker before your first pass. Where the ink comes off is exactly where the bit is cutting.
A dull blade costs you money, and your lawn pays too
The trip to the shop
$5 to $15 a blade if you take it off and drop it in. More if they take it off for you. Then you drive back and pick it up.
A new blade you didn't need
Most dull blades only need an edge. Buy new and it'll be dull again by the end of the season.
A lawn that looks tired
Every torn tip browns off. Mow with a dull blade all summer and the whole yard looks it.
“Easy to use and made sharpening my mower blades at home quick and hassle free, saving money compared to taking them to a shop.” — Anthony L., sharppebble.com
Make it safe. Tip it. Sharpen it.
- Make it safe. Pull the spark plug wire, or take the battery out.
- Tip it. On a gas mower, keep the air filter side up so oil and fuel stay put.
- Sharpen it. Lock the guide to your angle and run it along the edge. Do both ends the same.

I was a little skeptical that it would work, but it works really well.

I have been sharpening my lawnmower blades with a file for the past 5 years, so I tried the cordless sharpener and love it! The blade comes out sharp in just a few passes.

Pulled it out of the box and touched up 2 sets of mower blades. Could not have been easier. Very easy to do with blades on mower.

Worked as described. Was able to sharpen a badly worn blade, instead of purchasing a new one.

It is so easy to use. I have sharpened 2 of my neighbors' mower blades and mine and only had to change the bits once.

I usually sharpen my blades manually, but I decided to take a chance and give this cordless a try. Very satisfied with the results.

Straight answers.
Will it fit my mower?
It works on gas and electric push mowers and ride-on mowers. It does not matter who made the mower. It won't work on reel mowers or zero-turns.
Which mowers won't it work on?
- Reel mowers. The blades aren't straight, so the angle guide has nothing to lock against.
- Zero-turn mowers. Their blades need more power than this tool has.
- Deeply curved mulching blades will work, but take more patience. The guide has less flat edge to ride on.
Do I have to take the blade off?
Not for a normal sharpen. Tip the mower and do it in place.
If the blade is badly blunt, chipped or bent, take it off. You'll be taking off more steel, so you need to balance it after.
How do I balance a blade?
Hang it by the center hole on a nail or a blade balancer. If one end drops, take a little more off that end and check again. Stop when it hangs level.
Is it safe to tip my mower?
Yes, if you do it right. Pull the spark plug wire or take the battery out first. On a gas mower, tip it with the air filter side up so oil and fuel don't leak where they shouldn't.
Does it take practice?
The first blade takes a few minutes longer while you get the feel. Color the edge with a marker and make one pass. You'll see exactly where the bit is cutting. After that it's about a minute a blade.
How long does the battery last?
About 20 minutes of run time on a full charge.
Why get the spare bits?
Diamond bits wear down with use. The bundle adds 8 spare 7/32" (5.5 mm) bits, so you won't run out halfway through the season. They cost $13.96 in the bundle instead of $19.99 on their own.
What does shipping cost, and when will it arrive?
Shipping is FREE when you choose the bundle with the 8 spare bits ($89.95). The sharpener kit on its own ($75.99) has shipping added at checkout. Delivery takes 3–7 business days from our U.S. warehouse.
What if it breaks, or I just don't get on with it?
Send it back within 30 days and get your money back. No questions asked.
